Comcast lost 144,000 residential broadband customers in the third quarter of 2026, a steeper decline than the 91,000 customers lost in the same period a year earlier, according to the company's earnings report released today. The cable operator also reported plans for significant job cuts within its cable division as it continues to shed residential broadband and television subscribers.

The company has historically benefited from limited competition in high-speed wired broadband, but it now faces intensified pressure from fixed wireless providers and fiber operators in portions of its cable territory. Mike Cavanagh, Comcast co-CEO, stated on today's earnings call that fixed wireless competitors remain aggressive in taking market share. He noted that fiber construction activity remains elevated, accompanied by pockets of what he described as irrational pricing and promotional activity.
