The Newsroom編輯部

We cover the harbour the way you'd read it if you lived on it.

NewsHK was founded on a simple bet: that the Asia-Pacific deserves a paper as serious about its markets as it is about its politics — reported from inside the region, in the languages the region actually speaks.

Our Story緣起

Founded at a marked-up desk, not in a boardroom.

Founded 2019 · Central, Hong Kong · Reader-owned, ad-supported

NewsHK began in 2019 with a handful of correspondents who were tired of choosing between the wire's speed and the broadsheet's depth. They wanted both — and a reader who expected both.

Today the newsroom files daily from Central, Admiralty and the ports that move the region's trade, with stringers across the Asia-Pacific. The brief has not changed: explain power and money in this part of the world with precision, independence and a long memory.

Our mission is narrow on purpose. Cover Hong Kong and its neighbours as a market, a polity and a place — not a headline. Hold the institutions that move capital and policy to a standard the rest of the press has stopped enforcing. Write for the reader who has to make a decision by Monday morning.

Standards & Ethics編採守則

The four rules that never move

01

Accuracy before speed

We would rather be second and right than first and wrong. Every claim is sourced; every correction is logged in the open.

02

Sources are protected

Confidential sources are exactly that. We use encrypted channels and we honour off-the-record agreements without exception.

03

No hidden interests

Reporters disclose holdings. Commercial partnerships never touch the editorial desk. The wall is real and it is load-bearing.

04

Context is the story

A number without its history misleads. We report the figure, then the forces — political, financial, historical — that produced it.
