Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong reaffirmed his prediction that Bitcoin could reach $400,000 by 2030 during an interview conducted on September 10. Armstrong stated that this figure is a reasonable target for the coming decade, citing specific market cycles and regulatory developments as key drivers.

Armstrong outlined his belief that Bitcoin is following its historical four-year market cycle, which typically features a strong rally, a period of euphoria, and a subsequent longer correction. He argued that the current downturn is approaching its end, noting that most down periods last about a year and that the market has just crossed the one-year mark for the current decline. Armstrong personally believes the bottom of this recent cycle is in, pointing to Bitcoin finding support around the $60,000 area before recovering.

A central factor in Armstrong's outlook is the pending CLARITY Act, legislation intended to establish clearer regulatory rules for the U.S. cryptocurrency industry. He described the act as a "regulatory checkbox" that, if passed, could serve as a major milestone for unlocking institutional capital. This clearer guidance would allow banks and asset managers to participate more fully, potentially bringing products such as tokenized equities to the United States.

Armstrong also linked Bitcoin's value proposition to macroeconomic conditions, specifically rising government spending and debt markets. He suggested that when government spending becomes excessive, capital flows often return to scarce assets like Bitcoin, which he described as a digital version of gold. Additionally, he highlighted the role of stablecoins following the GENIUS Act, noting that regulated stablecoins are now structural buyers of U.S. government debt, a dynamic he said helps push down interest rates.

Looking further ahead, Armstrong identified the next Bitcoin halving event, expected in 2028, as another potential catalyst. He observed that Bitcoin has historically seen price increases in the run-up to halving events and believes the next year or two will be favorable for the asset.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin was trading at $77,706 according to Decibel. The interview highlights Armstrong's view that a combination of cyclical timing, legislative clarity, and macroeconomic shifts supports his long-term price target.
