Anthony Pompliano, CEO of Professional Capital Management, stated on Thursday that President Donald Trump's proposed $5,000 stimulus checks would benefit assets such as Bitcoin and gold. The proposal, described as a "Trump dividend" for every American adult citizen if Republicans win the November midterms, is estimated to cost roughly $1.2 trillion.
Pompliano argued that increased fiscal stimulus would expand the money supply and drive inflation, thereby increasing demand for scarce assets like Bitcoin, gold, and land. "The more money he hands out, the higher Bitcoin, gold, and land will go," he said in a post on X on September 10, 2026. He has previously characterized Bitcoin as a hedge against the debasement of the dollar and has suggested that recipients of such stimulus checks should invest in the asset rather than spend the funds.
The impact of fiscal stimulus on inflation remains a subject of debate among economists. A 2022 study by Federal Reserve economists found that pandemic-era fiscal stimulus contributed to an increase in U.S. inflation of about 2.5 percentage points. However, a recent study published in the Chicago Booth Review disputed this magnitude, finding that stimulus programs accounted for less than one-fifth of price increases during that period.
Market history suggests a correlation between such announcements and cryptocurrency performance. When Trump floated a $2,000 tariff dividend in November, Bitcoin rose by 5%. Similar rallies followed the distribution of COVID-19 stimulus checks. Pompliano's comments align with his broader view that individuals should shift from being consumers to investors, particularly when holding government-issued cash.
