Bitmine Immersion Technologies added 28,086 Ethereum to its balance sheet over the past week, raising its total holdings to 5.93 million tokens. As of September 8, 2026, the company's combined crypto and cash holdings are valued at $15.7 billion, with the Ethereum portfolio alone worth nearly $15 billion at a price of approximately $2,500 per token.

The acquisition occurred despite a significant decline in the asset's value over the previous twelve months. Ethereum is down 42% over that period, a trend that has resulted in unrealized losses for Bitmine's treasury. In its Q4 FY25 disclosure, the company noted that ETH had fallen roughly 50% from its all-time high of $4,953 reached in August 2025. Despite these valuation headwinds, Bitmine reported $328.16 million in net income for FY2025, with fully diluted earnings of $13.39 per share.

The company's stock price reflects a complex relationship with its underlying assets. The stock is trading at $24.97, up 35.49% over the past month but down 40.8% over the past year. Its market value stands at approximately $15.06 billion, a figure now close to the value of its crypto holdings. This structure creates a leveraged exposure for shareholders, who are subject to both the treasury's value and the performance of Ethereum itself. If the company funds further purchases by issuing new shares, existing shareholders face dilution that must be offset by the added value of the new tokens.

Bitmine's operational focus has shifted from mining to staking and treasury management. The company operates a facility in Silverton, Texas, running 4,640 machines that generate roughly $1.2 million per quarter. It launched MAVAN, its Made in America Validator Network, on March 25, 2026, to stake its ETH and earn fees. Tom Lee estimates that fully staking the current holdings could generate about $374 million annually.

Lee, who chairs Bitmine and works at Fundstrat, publicly forecast on August 28, 2026, that Ethereum could reach $6,000 by year-end if Bitcoin climbs to $150,000 and the ETH-to-BTC ratio rises from around 0.03 to 0.04. His position creates a direct financial incentive for a stronger Ethereum price, as both his firm and Bitmine benefit from an increase in value.

Analysts caution that Bitmine's accumulation represents a single large buyer rather than broad corporate adoption. The purchase does not identify new settlement networks or fee-sharing arrangements that would drive wider demand for the asset. While removing supply from the market may support prices at the margin, the sustainability of Ethereum's value depends on broader capital flows and institutional activity beyond Bitmine's specific strategy.
