Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated on Thursday that Bitcoin could reach $400,000 by 2030. He described the figure as a reasonable target. Armstrong told CNBC on September 10 that the market has already found a bottom. He argued that clearer regulations would unlock additional capital. He cited the CLARITY Act, White House pressure on regulators, stronger ETF demand, and Bitcoin's fixed supply of 21 million coins as key drivers. Armstrong noted that even if the CLARITY Act did not pass the Senate in September, the US SEC and CFTC are already advancing crypto rulemaking.
This $400,000 projection is significantly lower than Armstrong's earlier prediction of $1 million by 2030. The Coinbase chief also expressed confidence that Bitcoin has a good chance of reclaiming the $100,000 level by the end of 2026.
Binance founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao suggested that the current market environment offers opportunities for entry. Zhao believes Bitcoin will overtake gold in value. He said this shift could occur during the next bull run. He argued that governments will gradually treat Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset, even if that transition takes years. In a statement on Thursday, Zhao advised investors to make correct decisions to capitalize on the frequent chances to enter or exit positions.
On-chain data firm Glassnode indicated that US spot Bitcoin ETFs have climbed back toward the break-even level. The firm noted that institutional cost basis now acts as a resistance level that Bitcoin must move through for further upside. Glassnode added that a sustained break above this band would mark a significant change, triggering massive institutional capital into spot Bitcoin ETFs. Additionally, the Coinbase Premium 30DMA has recovered from negative territory and moved back around positive levels.
Bitcoin currently trades at $78,000. It is down slightly as investors await US CPI and PPI inflation data later this week. Rising odds of a Fed rate hike above 60% and continued strikes in the US-Iran war have kept traders cautious. Prediction market data from Polymarket shows participants expect Bitcoin to reach $85,000 by December 31, 2026, with 64% of bets placed on the affirmative.
