AMD has announced it is acquiring World Labs, an artificial intelligence research laboratory co-founded by Dr. Fei-Fei Li, in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $8.2 billion.
The company stated that the deal is expected to close by the end of the year. World Labs launched in 2024 and reached a valuation of $1 billion within a few months.
In 2025, the startup released its first commercial product, a world generation model named Marble. This tool allows users to create interactive 3D worlds from a text prompt.
Following the acquisition, Fei-Fei Li will assume the role of executive vice president and chief scientist at AMD, reporting directly to CEO Lisa Su.
