Alexander Ovechkin, the NHL's all-time leading goal-scorer, has agreed to a one-year contract to return to the Washington Capitals, the franchise announced Thursday.
The deal carries a salary-cap hit of $4,250,000 — roughly half of his previous figure — giving Washington's front office meaningful financial flexibility heading into the off-season roster market.
