Fox News Channel will broadcast a town hall featuring Vice President JD Vance on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, the network announced on Monday. Jesse Watters will moderate the one-hour, pre-taped event from Fort Worth, Texas, giving Vance a platform to address voters less than one week before Election Day. The program will air during the "Jesse Watters Primetime" slot and focuses on issues the network describes as critical to the nation ahead of the midterms.

The event takes place against a backdrop of intense political competition in Texas, a state that has not elected a Democrat to a statewide office in over three decades. The 2026 midterm cycle presents what Fox News describes as a serious test for that streak, particularly in the U.S. Senate race where Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton are in a highly contested battle. Paxton is seeking to replace longtime Senator John Cornyn, who lost the Republican primary to Paxton.

Voters in the Lone Star State will also decide between incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott and Democratic challenger Gina Hinojosa. Historical data cited by the network notes that a Democrat has not won a Texas U.S. Senate seat since 1988 or the governor's race since 1990. In the 2024 presidential election, President Donald Trump carried Texas by nearly 14 points, extending the state's long-standing Republican voting pattern.

"Jesse Watters Primetime" reported drawing 2.8 million viewers in the 8 p.m. ET hour during the third quarter of 2026. The network states this performance dominated cable news and made it the most-watched cable news program in primetime that period. Watters also co-hosts "The Five," which the network identifies as consistently the most-watched show on all of cable news across all time slots.

During his tenure at Fox News Channel, Watters has interviewed figures including President Trump and Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. Victoria Balara of Fox News Digital contributed to the original report.
