US equity futures traded mostly flat in the pre-bell session on Monday as lower-than-expected jobs data released on Friday reduced market expectations for a Federal Reserve interest rate hike this month.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures and S&P 500 futures held steady, while Nasdaq futures slipped 0.2%. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday that total nonfarm payrolls increased by 29,000 last month.
This figure fell well short of the 90,000 increase projected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.
In response, the CME FedWatch tool indicates that markets are now pricing in an 80.6% probability that the Federal Open Market Committee will leave its benchmark lending rate unchanged at the end of this month, a rise from 76% on Thursday.
