World Series champion Nick Swisher stated that a potential Major League Baseball lockout could "absolutely" lead to cancelled games next season.
The former New York Yankees outfielder made the assessment in an interview with OutKick, citing the starkly opposing positions between MLB owners and the MLB Players Association regarding the implementation of a salary cap.
Swisher noted that the current collective bargaining agreement is set to expire, making a lockout beginning December 1 highly probable if negotiations fail to bridge the gap on this central issue.
The former star, who played 12 seasons in the big leagues, observed that the language used by both the players' association and the commissioner's office signals a deep impasse.
