The market for AI routing infrastructure is being repriced at speed.
Stripe, the US-based payments company, has reached an agreement to acquire OpenRouter, a New York-based startup that helps developers select and switch between AI models, at a valuation Bloomberg reported at more than $7 billion.
People familiar with the discussions told Bloomberg the agreement is finalised, though the final figure could still change. The step-up from OpenRouter's last known valuation is notable.
The startup raised its most recent round at $1.3 billion just months ago and has taken in more than $150 million total since it was founded in 2023. Its backers include CapitalG, Andreessen Horowitz, and Menlo Ventures.
