Planet Green bets on lactoferrin's supply squeeze to break into China's health market

China imports nearly all of the lactoferrin it consumes, a supply gap that stems from limited domestic production capacity. Against that backdrop, Planet Green Holdings Corp.

(NYSE American: PLAG), a Flushing, New York-based holding company with operations across mainland China and Canada, announced on August 11, 2026 that it has entered commercial operations to source, market, and distribute lactoferrin, targeting the Chinese market with an ingredient the company already uses in its own chewable immune tablets.

Why supply shapes the market Commercially produced lactoferrin reaches buyers through two methods. The dominant approach extracts it from bovine milk using membrane filtration and ion-exchange chromatography.

Because milk contains relatively little lactoferrin, the process requires large volumes, making production expensive and supply-constrained.
