College athletics is in one of its sharpest governance disputes in recent memory.
On Wednesday, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry aligned himself publicly with LSU and head football coach Lane Kiffin in their confrontation with the Southeastern Conference over the eligibility of athletes returning from professional stints.
Landry's position is that the SEC is applying its rules selectively.
The conference accepted court decisions in the cases of Diego Pavia and Trinidad Chambliss, he argued, but is now trying to block athletes who followed the same path.
