Across on-chain network exploits, the path to recovery more often runs through legal channels or chain analysis than through a voluntary pledge.
The attacker behind the roughly 4,000 $BTC taken from the Liquid Network has offered the other route. They said they plan to return most of the funds once the software bug affecting the network is patched.
The offer is partial in two respects. The attacker committed to returning most of the roughly 4,000 $BTC, not all of it, which leaves a share unresolved regardless of what developers do next.
And the timeline is open: no fixed date accompanies the commitment. The return is pegged to remediation of the underlying bug, which means the pace of a software fix sets the clock.
