Israel is reportedly likely to reject the $4.2 billion transaction between Hapag-Lloyd and ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, a decision that would unwind one of the sector's more ambitious combinations before it reaches the closing table.
A deal with national dimensions The $4.2 billion arrangement brought together Hapag-Lloyd, the German container carrier, and ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, which has deep ties to Israel.
That structure placed the agreement within the reach of Israeli government review from the start. Reports now indicate that review is expected to end in a rejection.
