Goldman Sachs to acquire options ETF manager Neos Investments for up to $2.25 billion

Institutional demand for portfolio hedges has driven capital toward systematic options-income exchange-traded funds, as volatile markets have prompted managers to seek drawdown protection.

Goldman Sachs has agreed to acquire Neos Investments, a provider of options-based income ETFs, for as much as $2.25 billion.

The deal, expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, would push Goldman's total active ETF assets to $80 billion. Neos and the segment it occupies Neos runs 19 funds and managed $30 billion in assets as of June 30.

Its product line centers on systematic options strategies, a category that has seen demand surge of late as institutions look to hedge portfolios and cushion drawdown risk in a volatile market environment.
