Canadian retail investors have had few regulated options for crypto derivatives exposure, often turning to offshore platforms to access the market.
Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) moved to close that gap on Tuesday, with Eric Richmond, Country Director and CEO of Coinbase Canada, announcing via blog post that the platform is now offering futures products to eligible Canadian traders.
The offering spans 23 crypto futures tied to assets including Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), Ether (CRYPTO: ETH), and Solana (CRYPTO: SOL), alongside five commodity futures covering gold, silver, and oil, plus index futures that include COIN50.
Products are structured with nano-sized contracts to reduce the capital required to open a position.
