California voter guide sparks backlash over anti-Prop 39 language

The California voter guide for Proposition 39, a ballot initiative requiring government-issued identification for voting, has drawn online criticism for its highly political language.

The guide, which informs voters ahead of the November election, includes arguments from both supporters and opponents of the measure.

The controversy centers on the section opposing the initiative, which uses terms such as "MAGA billionaires" and references a "voter suppression agenda." Proposition 39 is a citizen-led effort organized by Californians for Voter ID.

The group submitted 1.3 million signatures in March, significantly exceeding the required nearly 875,000 signatures for the measure to appear on the ballot.
