The exploit-to-migration cycle is grinding through the smaller end of the layer-1 market again, this time at BounceBit's expense.
An attacker transferred approximately 286.5 million BB tokens from nine wallets before block production was eventually halted, and the project has since announced it will sunset its own blockchain and move to BNB Chain ($BNB).
The exploit is described as a roughly $3 million event. BounceBit's decision to migrate rather than rebuild sits inside a pattern the market has priced into smaller independent chains before.
When block production fails under exploit conditions, the cost of restoring confidence in the chain tends to outrun what the existing token base can credibly support.
