The consumer desktop silicon cycle is moving on two tracks this autumn. Apple has announced two new processors, the M6 and M5 Ultra, and opened preorders for the Mac Mini and Mac Studio machines built around them.
The Mac Mini starts at $899, a $300 increase over the M4-equipped base model from 2024, while the Mac Studio holds its opening price at $2,499. Shipping for most standard configurations begins September 22nd, 2026.
The Mac Mini carries the sharpest pricing step in the pair.
At $899, the M6-equipped base model costs more than its predecessor, and the lineup reaches higher as well: a Mac Mini configured with the M5 Pro chip starts at $1,699.
