Amazon reportedly pays $120 million for six-year Emmys streaming deal

Amazon has agreed to a six-year deal to stream the Emmy Awards, a move that will transfer the ceremony from broadcast television to Prime Video starting with the 2027 event.

Deadline reports that Amazon paid around $20-25 million per year for the rights, making the deal worth upwards of $120 million. The first ceremony under this agreement is scheduled to air in September of next year.

Despite the shift to a streaming platform, the announcement specifies that the broadcast will be free to view for audiences worldwide, meaning viewers will not require a Prime Video subscription to watch the event.

The deal marks a significant change for the awards show, which had previously been hosted on traditional broadcast networks.
